St Clement's Church
The Parochial Church Council of Grainthorpe are delighted to welcome the Festival of Arts back to St Clement's Church after the Heritage Lottery Funded restoration of the church. The funding was made possible thanks to the players of the National Lottery.
Inspired by St Clements Competition
This year, a £100 prize has been offered by the PCC of St Clement's Church, as part of the "Maker's Mark Project" funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to celebrate the completion of the restoration work in the church. The prize will be awarded to the winning piece of art or craftwork, entered into the competition, which reflects the source of inspiration in its title, and these can be seen in the art exhibition at August Bank Holiday.
As part of the project the PCC, the Heritage Group and Heritage Lincolnshire have worked with Grainthorpe Primary School to produce two exciting educational workshops. The art workshop was inspired by the 18th century graffiti that was found in the lead on the roof of the north isle - these drawings of hands, feet and ships can be seen on display in the cabinets in the church. The children have created their own imaginative interpretations of this graffiti in metal sheet, and these can be seen in the art exhibition at August Bank BHoliday.
